the NOT so terrible in-laws

Surprising to no one who knows Trevor, he bought a spike elk tag this year.  He has been excited about going camping/hunting for quite awhile.  You see, we normally go over labor day weekend, but this year we went up to Provo for Jo's baby blessing (which was fabulous).  Anyway... he has told me for a couple of weeks that we could go with them.  Of course we were planning on going... until the weather changed.  It's been rainy and miserable.  However, on Boulder mountain it has been rainy, snowy, and cold!  So, as of Tuesday or Wednesday we changed our minds about camping... The guys can go with out their cooks this trip.  Yesterday, Trevor and Brant headed up the mountain, to be followed by Jeff and Clint today.  The last phone call we got from them... 4 inches of snow and it's been rainy!  Boy am I glad I'm not up there trying to deal with a very active, to say the least, 1 year old in snow and rain.  So, tonight I went to the in-laws house... We didn't do much...  I made smores on a stick (the most yummy imitation to smores ever!), hung out, made homemade french fries, and Miste and I watched a movie.  Kelson was sound asleep after the movie, so he stayed the night.  As I was driving home, I was thinking of just how lucky I am.  I'm so so lucky to have in-laws that I LOVE!  I don't really feel like the daughter or sister in law.  I feel like I am part of the family.   Kelson, being the only grandchild/nephew is very very spoiled.  He has grandma and especially grandpa wrapped around his little finger!  Never do they complain about tending him. 
Even though tonight I feel a little lonely alone in my house, I feel incredibly blessed and loved.

September Fun

Jo's Blessing

We went up north for a birthday party/blessing over labor day weekend.  We went to dinner with mom in Salt Lake then went and had cake at Rebekah's house.  The next day we went do to Provo for baby Jo's Blessing.  Jordan did a good job and she looked so cute in her dresses.

Time Out for Women

The next weekend, after Jo's Blessing we went to Time Out for Women.  This year we decided to go in Logan.  It was such an amazing event.  Every speaker was great! The theme this year was "Infinite HOPE."  I laughed, I cried, and I was spiritually uplifted... what more can you ask for.  We (Me, Andrea, Rebekah, mom, Kayleen, and baby Jo) stayed at a motel in Layton. Hilary Weeks was the Saturday musician and she did fabulous as always.  It was great!!!  They did "Hope" kits for the local women and childrens center.  They asked for specific items to be donated (ie. hair spray, razors, perfums, etc) They ended up with around 400 kits. WOW!  It was neat to be a part of that as well.

GRAMPS IS 90

The next weekend, September 18th we headed over to Kanab for a birthday party.  We had a birthday party for Grandpa Camp.  He turned 90 on the 19th.  We had a "thanksgiving" dinner, entertainment, made cards, and took pictures.  It was fun to see the family and spend time with grandpa.

SALT LAKE AGAIN

This last weekend we went up north for a wedding and to see people who were down from Idaho.  We went up on Friday afternoon.  Got stuck in horrible traffic, but finally made it to Draper were we stayed in a motel.  We just went to dinner and relaxed on Friday.  Then, on Saturday morning we met Busby's (a family from Trevor's mission) for breakfast.  We enjoyed seeing them and wishing good luck to Riley who will be leaving for the MTC tomorrow.  Then we went to Cabela's.  Kelson was so funny looking at the animals.  He kept pointing and saying "ooo  ooo"  haha he sounded like a monkey.  It was cute. 

Then after wasting some time... we went to Layton for Norine and Paisley's birthday party.  We weren't able to stay long, but it was fun while we were there.  After the party we headed back down to Draper to go to a wedding reception for Chris Canjura.  He was Trevor's last missionary companion.  He also got to see another Elder from his misson that came to the reception (Tim Roberts).  After the reception we headed home.

Dad/Grandpa turns 50
On Sunday we went over to Jeff and Christy's house for a big family dinner.  Jeff is 50 today!  There was a good turn out for the dinner.  We ate, mingled, and had a good time.

Getting Crafty 

My cousin Tammy is very very talented and comes up with cute projects to do each month. And this month I decided to do 2 of them... I did 1 today and hopefully I'll finish the other project this week or next.

I also made some cute pumpkins with the idea from my ward RS.  It is going to be one of the projects for next week, but I was too excited and already made some.

My sister Andrea got married this last weekend- August 21, 2010.  She did an afternoon wedding, a nice dinner, and no reception.  It turned out really great!

The wedding was such a beautiful cerimony.  Grandpa Barlow was able to marry them and he did a good job.  They were glowing... you could tell they're so so happy.  Andrea actually put her trust in me to do her hair for her bridal pics and for her wedding. So, after the ceremony I got to be her "helper" before they came out of the temple.  It was pretty neat!  We fixed up her hair that had flatened like a pancake and touched up the make-up and had the temple matrons really suprised to find out that we are actually almost 10 years apart... me younger.  haha...

Anyway... they came out and we did some pictures at the temple before going over to the dinner.

The dinner was really nice too.

We had a buffet of pastas and fruit and salad.  After most everyone was finished eating then Sister Prince, that has become Ivica's USA mom spoke a little about him and how Andrea and him were lined up.  Then my mom talked for a few minutes.  Following the couple of words... they cut the cake, Andrea threw the bouquet, and then they did their first married dance.

After the dance they thanked everyone for coming and then just mingled until everyone had said their congrats and left. 

We are SO happy for them and we are excited to get to know Ivica even better.

I have been preparing a YW lesson for Sunday 'The Importance of Life' and it has really got me thinking...
I live my live my life day to day... get up do breakfast with Kelson, cleaning, dishes, laundry, blog/fb, sew, cook dinner, spend some time with Trevor, and do it all again the next day.  I never take time to notice the small things.  As I was preparing my lesson I came accross this primary song...

I love love love the second verse.  Cause it isn't until i'm really thinking about it that I realize how grateful I really am for all my senses.  If I could never hear Kelson laugh, if I couldn't read, or see a beatiful sunset... I would be missing out on so much!!  But then I realize that I am missing out on all these things anyway because I just use all my senses out of habit... I never relish in the smell of dinner cooking or fresh clean laundry, I never admire the beatiful colors of flowers in the yard.
So today... I'm going to truly use all my senses...  I'm going to admire and find joy in everything!!

Well, I said a long time ago I wanted to sell some of my sewn items online.  I got my website all set up... and decided to sell some of my stuff at the cornfest this year.  So... again my website is pretty much put on hold.  I have one item listed for sale on the website, but pretty much everything else I make til the end of August will go to the cornfest.  Anything that doesn't sell at the cornfest will be posted early September on my website.
Around the beginning to mid September I should have my website going with more than 1 item listed. So, check it out and tell your friends about it :)

guess who's one?!?!

I still can't even believe it's been over a year since Kelson was born!  He turned one on July 8th.  It's crazy how much a baby can change everything in your life.  This past year has been amazing!  There have definitely been the ups and the downs, but I wouldn't change any of it!  I love Kelson so much!  He is really starting to get quite the little personality.  He started throwing fits about 2 or so weeks before his first birthday... he kicks his legs and just screams!  He is pretty dramatic!  He isn't a very good eater because he would rather play than eat.  He is also picky.  He doesn't really like vegetables... unless they are covered in salt or gravy. 

I feel so blessed to have Kelson in my life!

For his birthday we had a little family get together.  We ate dinner and watched Kelson open presents and ate some cake. He is a spoiled and loved little boy!  About 2 (or more) months before his birthday, I had envisioned the perfect cake I was going to make for him... I think it turned out pretty well.

The Great Hunt Reunion

Every year in June, my Grandma Barlow's family has a reunion... "The Great HUNT Reunion"  This year Andrea, mom, Kelson, and I decided to make the journey.  Grandma and her 3 living sisters and 1 of her 2 living brothers were there.  It was fun to see them all.  It's always fun to see family that you only see every so often.  We had a pretty good time.
Aunt Shirley told me a story about how (her mom) Great Grandma Hunt would always send her to the store to buy some chocolate bars with nuts in them.  She would eat one little piece and put the rest up in a cupboard.  She would then eat 1 piece everyday until they were gone... then she would do it again :)  She said we all got her "sweet-tooth"  she loves to eat sweets!
Grandma sure is like her mom... she ate about 5-10 bites of her lunch, but she gladly ate her entire piece of cake :)
