Todays thankful post is simple...
I am thankful for the WASHING MACHINE AND THE DRYER!
As I am starting my day out with cleaning and doing my laundry, I am grateful that I don't have to scrub clean each individual piece of clothing. I am grateful that laundry day doesn't take near as long as it used to before the washing machine.

Thankful Thursday
Today I am so incredibly thankful that families can be together forever!
When I was only 6 years old my dad died suddenly of strep pneumonia. I still have a few vague memories of my dad. I remember how much I loved spending time with him. I remember eating breakfast with him before he went to work at the mine- before he would leave he would tuck me back in bed. (could be an altered memory, but I cherish it none-the-less)
I became my grandpa Barlow's little shadow. I remember following him everywhere in his yard, the garden, and sit with grandma and grandpa at lunch in the summers. I LOVED spending time with grandpa. I remember sitting on his lap at church and going to their house every Sunday evening. Grandpa used to support all of his family in all things they did. He used to go to every basketball game in Enterprise and support us. Of course I was cheering or dancing not playing sports- but he was there.
When it came time for me to get married grandpa married us in the St. George temple. I remember talking to him before the sealing and what a special moment it was to receive one on one advice from him. I love my grandpa so much and I am going to miss him. I am so glad I had the chance to see him, hold his hand, give him a kiss, and tell him I love him before he passed on to the other side.
I am SO grateful that through the atonement we can be with our loved ones forever. It is so sad for us still here to not have grandpa anymore. BUT I am so glad that he can be with his sweet wife, son, and daughter. I LOVE YOU GRANDPA- SEE YOU LATER!

Memorial Weekend
Some of my family came down for Memorial weekend. It is always fun when family is around. On Saturday night Ivica made his "famous" lasagna for dinner and it was SO good! We just had a fun time eating dinner and visiting while the kids played.
Sunday after church we had a yummy cook out. In the later evening we went and took our flowers to the cemetery and put on dads head stone.
Even though it was kind of late in the evening we decided to go over to spend some time with grandpa. He is getting so lonely.
On Monday morning we went down to St. George to spend some time with my mom and swim at her pool. The kids loved swimming. Caleb kept getting mad that I wouldn't let him put his face in the water. He is too brave and Kelson is a chicken! It was a pretty relaxed weekend, but so fun to spend time with family!

| As you can see my kids are the very best at getting their pictures taken. haha |

Thankful Thursday
Today I am thankful for Kelson and Caleb.
My life without those two would not be much! I love spending my days with them. I have started working again (around 1/2- 1 1/2 days per week). I miss them so much when I work. I have gotten so used to just being with them every single day. I love ALL the moments with them. Some times the hard moments aren't that great, but those are the moments that make me really truly appreciate the happy moments.
I'm thankful that Kelson is such a good big brother. He loves to be the mom- which, sometimes is not so good, but he loves his brother and you can tell by the way they play together. Kelson loves to sing which brings lots of happy and funny moments into our days.
I'm thankful that Caleb also loves his brother. They play so good together (most the time). Caleb loves to follow Kelson everywhere he goes. He is starting to walk and he gets into everything, but when he finds something he likes to play with his face just lights up!
Happy kids make a happy mom :) I love my two sweet little boys so much and I am forever grateful that God has trusted me enough to be their mom.
How can you not love them???

Thankful Thursday
(Stole this idea from a friend and from my aunt's facebook page)
I used to have a journal that everyday you wrote something you were thankful for and why. I wrote in it almost daily for a couple of months... then, I slowly stopped writing. When I did write, it really made me think about the things I have and the things I so often take for granted.
So... I'm going to try to write weekly about things in my life that I am grateful for.
Today I am thankful for my HOME.
Today as I am thinking about the vacuuming and the dusting and other things in my house that need cleaned. I can't help but be grateful that I have a home. Cleaning the house is NOT my favorite thing to do, but it means that we have a roof over our head and a place to be together. I couldn't imagine what it must be like for the sweet family renting our other house because they lost their home to a fire. Yes, today I am thankful for my home.
What are you thankful for today??

A humbling experience that I will never forget
I have been debating in my mind since Saturday if I should post this or not, but my blog is the only journal I keep and I want to remember the emotions I felt...
Trevor's cousin Weston and his wife rented our little Enterprise house for about 1 year. After they moved out we were worried whether or not we would find renters... Well, a sweet little gal, Gabriela, called wanting to look at the house. So, we showed her the house and she really liked it. She paid the deposit, signed the contract, and planned to move in June 1st. Well, knowing that the house needed some cleaning, and I had a busy week ahead. I decided on Friday evening to get started, so I could finish cleaning on Saturday. My wonderful mother in law and sisters in law planned to meet me there to help. Well, on my way there I get a call from Gabriela. I still remember our conversation exactly... "Hey Heidi, it's Gabriela how are you?" "I'm good, how are you?" VERY LONG PAUSE , and in a tear shaken voice she said, "Not very well, my parents house just burned down." "Oh my goodness, are they OK?" She then proceeded to tell me they were fine, but that they had no place to go. She asked if it was OK with me if they could take her contract and move into our house. I told her that would be fine. She said, "How soon can they move in?" Because I had decided to clean up on Friday I told her Saturday afternoon it could be ready. I immediately felt like I had been inspired to clean the house on Friday. I had originally planned to make room during the following week to clean it. So, we had to get it done tonight. Brett mowed the lawn, and we all cleaned up on the inside. Scrubbed and scrubbed. We also wanted to do something kind for them. We filled up the fridge and freezer and covered the counter in groceries. The Gardner family also gathered up items they could use (shower curtain, hand towels, a few dishes, pillows, blankets, soap, toothpaste, and a few other things). We were up late, but it was all worth it. On Saturday, Gabriela called us with the news that they had been offered somewhere with furniture and that they could stay. So, they decided to do that. However, when they got there, there was a lot of stuff in the house and they felt like there was not room for them to accrue items they need to get out on their own (things like furniture). So, they decided they did want their own space. They called back and asked us if the offer was still there for them to move into our little Enterprise home. So, Saturday night they moved the few things that they have into our house. We went over to talk to them about the contract and give them the keys. It was a humbling time for me! When we got there they offered to feed us the pizza that they were eating. I know to them it seemed like no big deal, but I kept thinking- you have nothing and you are offering us your dinner?! We told them not to worry about the rent or the utilities for the month of May that we would take care of it. They were so upbeat and so so so thankful. When I told Martha (the mom) that she seemed so upbeat she said "You have to be" She said she was pretty devastated when they looked at the rubble that was left, but you can't dwell on it, cause it won't change anything. They were so grateful for what we were doing for them. It is a time in my life that I will remember. I will remember how grateful they were. I will always remember the pain I felt on their behave, the tears that I shed on their behave. And I will probably always remember the words that Gabriela told me on the phone earlier that day... "There are no words to express how grateful we are. Heidi you have no idea how much it means to us that you would give so much so willingly when you don't even know us that well." I will never forget the feeling of pure joy and love I felt toward them when she told me that. I don't know them that well, but because of what we were able to do for them I have a true sincere love for them. What an amazing experience that will stay with me forever!!
