Halloween

Unfortunately I had to work on Halloween, so when I got home I was very tired.  I went to my in-laws house to get the kids and my mother-in-law was busy cutting up deer meat from the hunt.  So, I took Brett (11 yr old brother in law) and Kelson trick-or-treating in New Castle.  We didn't go to very many houses, but I was tired and I figured Kelson didn't need TONS of candy.  He let me put the lion costume on- but he did cry for a minute.  Once he realized people were giving him candy he didn't care about the costume at all.  After trick-or-treating in New Castle, we went to Andrea's house to get a treat.  Kelson was so happy from all his candy and the boys looked so cute.  Halloween evening with my boys made my day great!

Wedgie Giraffe and a Scary Lion

I bought a giraffe costume for $4 at a yard sale for Kelson to be for Halloween.  The night before the Halloween Carnival in Beryl I decided I better make sure that it fits...  I put the costume on (no hood) and it was pretty snug- then I put the hood on and it became wedgie giraffe.  So, the next morning I asked a friend at work if I could borrow a costume for him.  She brought a few to choose from... I chose the lion because it is adorable.
Beryl Carnival Story:
So, I decided to take both costumes to New Castle just in case the Lion costume was way too big- good thing I took both...
I said lets put on your costume and he was so excited until I held up the lion costume.  He said "scary"  I said "yep the lion is scary huh?"  So I told him we are going to put it on and he ran away from me saying he was scared.  Yep, sure enough he was scared of the lion costume.  I tried a few times and finally put on the giraffe costume.  As we were getting in the car he said, "mom- bum hurts".
We went to the carnival and he didn't really want to wear the hood because it made his bum hurt.  Well we bought a few tickets and played a few games.  He won a cake at the cake walk, and of course he picked the ugliest one of all (did NOT even look edible!).  It was a pretty fun night and lucky for me I won some raffle prizes.
Enterprise Carnival Story:
A few days later was the carnival in Enterprise, so I had tried preparing him to wear the lion.  We kept talking about it and he kept telling me he would.  Well, it was a little bit of a fight to get the costume on.  Once it was on I thought he would think it was cute if he saw himself in the mirror- WRONG!  He looked in the mirror and cried "scared mom, scared"  So, he didn't wear his hood most of the carnival in Enterprise either.  He was being scared of everything.  I finally decided he would enjoy the cake walk again.  Well, because we won a cake at the previous carnival he thought he should just get a cake.  So, the entire time we waited in line he was kinda whining because he wanted a cake.  A few times he even layed on the floor whining for a cake now.  So, we finally get to the cake walk and luckily we won again!!  This time he picked a cake that looked and tasted pretty darn good.  It was an adventure at the carnival without help.

*Note- this post is mostly journaling so I don't forget the stats...
At Caleb's 4 month well baby check on the 26th (yes, he was actually 4 1/2 months when he went in) he weighed in at 15 pounds and 7 ounces.  He is 25.5 inches tall.  He is growing good and is very healthy.  He got shots and it was a very hard day for both mom and baby.  He just doesn't do well with shots.  His legs got all red and swollen again and he just cried and cried a lot he hardly ate and just slept when he could get comfortable enough.  Poor little guy.

Like father, like son

So if you don't know Trevor that well you prob don't know that he has a hard time making decisions.  What do you want for dinner?  "I don't care." Where do you want to eat? "I don't care."  Should we go now or later? "I don't care."  These are typical conversations for us.  Even when it is a big decision.  What should we name him? (the new baby). "I don't know, whatever."  Seriously!!!
So last night we were at Grandma and grandpa's house and Kelson was sitting on the couch next to "jran-pa" watching the movie and playing with a toy.  I said Kelson, should we go home.  And he just shrugs his shoulders and says "I ont care!"  So again i ask, "Should we go home and go to bed, "i ont care!" hahaha It was cute!

Caleb is 4 months!!

Caleb is such a fun addition to the family.  He is getting so big so fast.  I can't believe he is already 4 months old.  He has just started laughing, but pretty much only laughs for mom.  He laughs when we play peek-a-boo.  He laughed the first time on the 11th.  He can roll as far as to his side, but he seems so content I don't think he cares to roll over.  He smiles all the time- a BIG tongue out cute smile.  He is getting heavy to carry all the time... he is around 14.5 pounds (i think).  He hates his car seat and the swing.  He loves to watch Kelson. And Kelson loves to show off for him.  I think he is already teething- his gums are pretty swollen and he drools LOTS.  Happy 4 month birthday bud!

a perfect moment in time...

A few days ago as I was getting ready for the day, Kelson was in my bathroom just chatting away.  Through the monitor we heard Caleb start to cry. So Kelson runs in there and the next thing i hear through the monitor is things like this...
no mre tears and "Hi bud." "Why cry?" "Here your bear- rraaaaaaaaaarrrrr" "Caaaaaleb boo.  aahh boo!"
I wish i could have recorded his words.  He was being the perfect big brother and Caleb was all smiles!

Grandma's Cookie Jar

My grandma was known for her delishous chocolate chip cookies.  Everyone loved them, so she made them often.  She would always say, "They aren't any good"
After my grandma died I really was determined to make the cookies like she did.  You see not many people can make them taste or even look the same as hers did.  In about 4 or 5 days I made 7 batches of cookies.  On batch 7 I was finally there- they looked right and tasted pretty darn good.  So, since I had been making cookies all the time, I decided I better get me a cookie jar.  I ordered one online and it took a while to come.  While waiting for the jar I made a batch of grandma's cookies- they didn't turn out again!!  They sure taste good, but they aren't the right height and slightly different taste!  Well, after the cookie jar came I couldn't bare for it to be empty. I made another batch of cookies.  And now when the cookie jar is getting low I feel like I need to make cookies!  (Fun and tasty- but not so good for the hips)  Even though they don't look or quite taste like the way grandma's did, it is her recipe.  I love making her cookies because every time I make them I think of her- Even though they aren't any good ;)
